About the Artist…
Sofia Yingz Dang started formal art training at age 15 by attending the preparatory School of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in Beijing. Over the course of the next seven years, she received comprehensive fine art training in a variety of media, such as watercolor, oil, charcoal, pen&ink, calligraphy and Chinese brush painting. Sofia's Bachelor of Fine Art degree was from the Central Academy of Drama of China in 1991.
In 1995 Sofia gained her Master of Fine Art degree from University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. Her major field of study was Theatrical Costume Design and Technology, and she has worked as a lecturer for the Theater Department at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio for a few years after graduation. In this phrase of her career, she has designed productions for opera, musical, drama and dance, and has made costumes for over 30 stage productions.
After year 2000, Sofia has been pursuing a career in arts by drawing, painting, crafting and sewing while taking care of her young family. Her has attended fine arts and crafts shows when permissible, exhibited her art works at local art galleries and produced prints and cards from her original artworks.
With her husband's help in some technical areas, Sofia designed and built this website www.sofiadang.com and www.sofiadangbridal.com in year 2008 and 2010.
